Woodside
Cottage is a comfortable furnished cottage set in the beautiful
Cannop Valley Nature reserve in the very heart of the Royal
Forest Of Dean. Walk out of the garden gate into oak woodlands.
Woodside Cottage has a large fenced garden complete with barbeque
and garden furniture. Watch the birds feed at the bird feeders,
woodpeckers and nuthatches are some of the regular visitors
which can be seen feeding through the dining room window.
The
cottage is 100 yards from the start of the cycle track and
the cycle hire centre, there is a storage shed for those who
wish to bring there own cycles. The start of the Sculpture
Trail and the Beechenhurst picnic area is approximately 10
minutes walk through the woods.
The
town of Coleford lies only 3 miles away, Cinderford 4 mails
away.

Accommodation
The
cottage sleeps 2-8 people and consists of:

A
comfortable furnished lounge with colour television, satellite
receiver and video recorder including a double bed settee.
This room has woodland views.
The
dining room has seating for 8, also overlooking beautiful
oak woodlands.
This room is also equipped with a television.
The
large kitchen is fully fitted with modern units and
work surfaces, and is fully equipped with an electric cooker,
microwave oven and fridge freezer. Laundry facilities include
automatic washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing
board.
The
ground floor also has a W. C. with wash basin, mirror
and shaving socket.

Woodside
Cottage is situated
in an designated area of outstanding natural beauty, the Cannop
Valley Nature Reserve, rich in woodlands and wildlife.
In
spring the bluebells cover the forest in a carpet of emerald
green and sapphire blue, then followed by the dusky pink foxgloves.
In
summer the variety of trees show their lush shades of green.
Wildlife is active, wild deer roam the forest. Squirrels are
busy collecting for there winter store and birds sing from
dawn to dusk.
In
Autumn, foliage with its glorious colours of copper and burnished
gold, make this a really beautiful time of year.
There
is something for everyone i the Royal Forest Of Dean, the
river Wye meanders through the Wye valley on the edge of the
forest and is excellent for canoeing and fishing. The Dean
Forest Railway at Lydney is a must for steam enthusiasts.
Symonds
Yat has spectacular views and is a haven for rock climbers,
ramblers and bird watchers with regular sightings of Peregrine
Falcons and Kites.
There
are many local attractions to visit. Clearwell caves, which
were created by man mining for ore when the Romans ruled ancient
Britain. The Dean Heritage Centre at Soudley recounts the
history of the Royal Forest Of Dean. Facilities include an
adventure playground, a nature trail and a cafe.
